Project 6

Data Management Platform

Project 6 aims to develop a central data management platform (DMP) for the PlasmArc4Green initiative, focusing on efficient data handling and integration across various plasma-based metal production processes. The platform will implement standardized interfaces between simulation and sensor data, adhering to the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles. The primary goal is to create a robust DMP that facilitates the seamless exchange and storage of data from simulations and experimental measurements. This platform will serve as a comprehensive knowledge base for all project partners, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and maximizing the visibility and transparency of research efforts within PlasmArc4Green. Expected outcomes include a metadata scheme tailored for PlasmArc4Green, central storage solutions for both simulation models and experimental data, and standardized data exchange protocols.

The technical approach will build on existing data management infrastructures, like INPTDAT, extending them to meet the specific needs of plasma-based metallurgical processes. Key activities include defining the requirements for the DMP, developing a metadata scheme, and ensuring the platform's compatibility with open-source software and standardized data formats.

Strategic research underpins the entire project, ensuring that the DMP not only meets current needs but also aligns with long-term goals and innovation potential in the field of green metal production. The strategic research will focus on enhancing the core competencies of the PlasmArc4Green initiative, promoting excellence and fostering international competitiveness.

Expected results include the development of a metadata scheme for PlasmArc4Green data, the implementation of a centralized DMP, the creation of storage solutions for simulation models with tutorials and experimental data with metadata, and the establishment of interfaces for regulated data exchange between simulation models and process/sensor data. By achieving these goals, Project 6 will contribute significantly to the optimization and innovation of plasma-based metal production processes, enhancing both efficiency and sustainability.
