Metal recycling is essential for strengthening a circular economy. In the following open access article, published on 17 August 2023 at frontiers | Frontiers in Microbiology, the coupling of two biotechnological methods – bioleaching and bioelectrochemistry for metal recovery were investigated.

This approach is also focus of the ongoing project INNOMET.

K1-MET GmbH, with Sabine Spiess as main author, was significantly involved in the writing of the paper.
