Press conference with Provincial Councillor Markus Achleitner
The new K1-MET project “ThermoGreenHydrogen” was presented at the press conference, to which Provincial Councillor Markus Achleitner and media representatives were invited.
In collaboration with H2 Powerlink GmbH, K1-MET GmbH, and FH OOE Forschung & Entwicklungs GmbH, a renewable energy system is being simulated, where volatile and season-dependent power generation from wind and solar is combined with short-term storage using a battery system and long-term storage through hydrogen. The direct conversion of industrial waste heat into electrical energy is another building block in this energy system. With a new demonstration plant, K1-MET GmbH is showing the possible applications and potential of thermoelectricity for industrial processes.
The project costs for the three-year term amount to 2.5 million euros, of which 1.5 million euros are provided by the European Just Transition Fund (JTF) and the Economic and Research Department of the State of Upper Austria. Further information about the IBW/EFRE- & JTF funding programme is available at www.efre.gv.at. This project arose from the regional “H2 for Transition” call by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) in spring 2024.
