K1-MET Senior Project Manager Michael Zarl was on research stay in Pohang, South Korea, from 6 to 13 October 2023.

During his research stay, Michael Zarl conducted experiments and discussions on the topic of “Hydrogen Plasma Smelting Reduction (HPSR)”.

For the further development of the HPSR process, Michael Zarl visited the cutting-edge Plasma Smelting Facilities at the Environmental Metallurgy Laboratories of the Graduate Institute of Ferrous & Eco Materials Technology (GIFT) at POSTECH University.

Collaborating closely with experts Leonardo Rocha and Seong Kyu Cho, Michael conducted trials and facilitated a knowledge exchange, fostering a robust research partnership between K1-MET GmbH and the GIFT. Together, they are contributing to the advancement of metallurgical sciences in the course of the SuS-F Project.
