K1-MET researcher Daniel Kavic at Research Stay at the University of Oulu

During a three-month research stay at the Process Metallurgy Research Unit at the University of Oulu, Daniel Kavic (K1-MET GmbH) further advanced and refined metallurgical process modeling within the framework of close international collaboration.

Working in cooperation with Professor Qifeng Shu on slag desulfurization modeling and with Professor Ville-Valtteri Visuri on top-lance desulfurization in secondary metallurgy, substantial progress was achieved in both areas. The developed model has been integrated into the overall secondary steelmaking process model which has been under continuous development since the beginning of Daniel Kavic’s doctoral research.

The collaborative research environment facilitated efficient exchange of knowledge and ideas. In addition to his primary research activities, Daniel Kavic contributed to ongoing projects at the host institution. During the research stay, the joint work resulted in the preparation of two peer-reviewed publications and one conference contribution.

This research stay underscores the importance of strong academic cooperation and highlights the benefits of combining complementary expertise across institutions. It further reflects K1-MET’s commitment to supporting international collaboration and high-level research activities.
