K1-MET was pleased to participate in the AISTech 2025 held in Nashville, Tennessee, from 5 – 8 May.
As the leading annual event for the steel industry in North America, AISTech 2025 brought together thousands of experts from research, industry, and plant operations to present and discuss the latest developments in iron and steelmaking.
K1-MET was represented by Prof. Susanne Michalic (CSO), PhD students Daniel Kavic and Bernhard Adami, who actively contributed to the technical program:
Daniel Kavic participated in the AIST Graduate Student Poster Contest with his research titled “Advanced Kinetic Modeling of Decarburization in Ruhrstahl-Heraeus Degasser Using Classical Thermodynamics and Tank-in-Series Approach”. He also presented his work in the session “Ladle & Secondary Refining: Process Technology Innovation”.
Bernhard Adami presented his research “Reactor selection for prereduction in a novel hybrid hydrogen plasma smelting reduction process”, highlighting ongoing developments in sustainable steelmaking.
Many thanks to AIST for the opportunity to share our work and connect with the global steelmaking community!
