The ECCC covered the most important topics in continuous casting and served as a European forum for experts to exchange views on the current state and future of the continuous casting process. The programme included the latest developments in control, automation, advanced continuous casting technologies and product quality improvements. Topics such as steel metallurgy and its physical and numerical simulation were also discussed. There were also presentations on operational practice and maintenance. The aim of the conference was to promote dialogue between experts from industry and science. This year’s ECCC was organised by the VDEh Steel Institute.
Daniel Kavic, PhD student in Area 1, gave a presentation entitled “A 2D – finite volume solidification software for real-time simulation of continuous slab casting”. He was also chair of the Session “Quality prediction, Visualization and AI”.
