This 42-month EU project with a total budget of € 6.2 million is part of the HORIZON-CL4-2022-TWIN-TRANSITION-01-013 programme. In cooperation with industrial and scientific partners (SWERIM, SSAB, BT Wolfgang Binder, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, DANIELI AUTOMATION, TU Luleå, SPECTRAL, TU Dortmund, VASD, Stena and ESTEP), K1-MET works on the reduction of impurities in scrap before melting. This involves the application of highly efficient sensor stations in combination with improved scrap sorting. K1-MET focuses on monitoring KPIs, optimum charge mix for the melting process and manages DEC activities.
