Metallurgist from Leoben honoured with “Willy Korf Young Excellence Award”

Andreas Pfeiffer has been honoured with the “Willy Korf Young Excellence Award” for his PhD thesis at the Chair of Ferrous Metallurgy, Montanuniversitaet Leoben.

At the award ceremony, Andreas had the honour of sharing the core content of his work with an audience of more than 400 steel industry leaders. His research focused on studying the behaviour of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) during the melting step, specifically emphasizing DRI made from ores currently applied in the blast furnace.

The research for Andreas' PhD was executed in the frame of the funded project “DRI melting” of the Metallurgical Competence Center K1-MET GmbH together with the industrial partners Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH, voestalpine Stahl GmbH, voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH and thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG.
