For six decades, the “60th Metallographie-Tagung” has been a key gathering place for academia and industry in the German-speaking world.
Zeljka Simicevic (K1-MET) attended the 60th anniversary conference at the Technical University of Leoben and gave a presentation titled “Mineralogy, Petrography, Low-Temperature Decomposition Resistance, and Reducibility of Synthetic Sinter Samples with and without Carbonate Iron Ore.”
The aim of the study was to compare two iron ore sintered bodies with different feed mixtures. The sintered bodies were examined mineralogically and petrographically. The analysis revealed differences in hematite and magnetite content. Carbonate ore and higher coke fines content improved low-temperature disintegration resistance. A lower coke fines content, on the other hand, led to better reducibility.
