Lukas Gupfinger from K1-MET attended the European Conference on Thermoelectrics (ECT 2026). There, he presented a poster on the topic “A validated segregated finite-element solution strategy for thermoelectric module simulation in Elmer FEM.”

The work introduces an experimentally validated, open-source FEM approach for the simulation of thermoelectric modules, supporting the development of efficient waste heat recovery technologies. Through a novel segregated solution strategy, the implemented thermoelectric solver achieves high numerical robustness while maintaining accurate module-level predictions and practical computational performance.

ECT 2026 provided a valuable opportunity to present the research results to an international audience of experts and to exchange ideas with researchers and experts on current developments in thermoelectrics.
