Within the IEA IETS Task 21 Workshop “Net-Zero Industrial Systems in a Circular Economy” in Vienna on 4 November 2025, the Austrian consortium conducted a workshop with national stakeholders. The discussions addressed regulatory frameworks, the current research status on CCUS, relevant stakeholder groups and potential new value chains.

Carbon circularity as well as improved resource and energy efficiency through industrial symbiosis were identified as promising approaches for industrial decarbonisation.

K1-MET contributed with a presentation by Irmela Kofler, focusing on the ZEUS project: CO2 capture using amine scrubbing in steel industry applications and membrane separation in the context of the cement industry.
