K1-MET at the “3rd BICTAM-CISM Symposium on Dispersed Multiphase Flows”

From, K1-MET participated in the 3rd BICTAM-CISM Symposium on Dispersed Multiphase Flows: From Measuring to Modeling in Udine, Italy. The international symposium brought together researchers from Europe and China to discuss the latest advances in dispersed multiphase flows, covering experimental, numerical and theoretical approaches as well as applications in engineering and science.

K1-MET researcher Mohammad Karimi Zand presented his ongoing PhD research in the contribution “Euler-Lagrange LES of turbulent bubble plumes with a new lift force model”. The presentation focused on a newly proposed lift force model for bubbly plume simulations, emphasizing the theoretical foundations of the model rather than specific simulation results.

The talk walked through the physical motivation for the approach: why bubble lateral movement can't be explained by size and void fraction alone, and how turbulence decay rate and vorticity emerged as key physical quantities to incorporate into the lift closure. 

Presented to an audience specializing in multiphase flows, the talk sparked discussions on the model’s potential applicability across industrial processes and provided valuable opportunities for scientific exchange with leading international experts.
