Virtual Rooms for Coffee Breaks

After a two-years break due to difficult circumstances, the 3rd K1-MET Simulation Conference was held on April 19, 2022 in an online format. A cross-section of the simulation and modelling activities in a wide variety of K1-MET projects was presented to around 60 participants from industry and academia.

The day was opened with a keynote talk by Stefan Radl on the topic "Towards Advanced Physical Modeling of Gas-Particle Flows: Compressibility, Reactions and Radiation". Sessions on the topics "Reactive and Granular Flow" and "Non-CFD/DEM Simulations" followed. The afternoon began with a keynote talk by Abdellah Kharicha on "Modeling MHD in Electric-Arc Furnaces and in continuous casting", continued by sessions on the topics of "Fluid Flow Modeling" and "Data-driven Simulations and Experiments". During the breaks, a further discussion of the presentations was made possible in virtual rooms.

The day was filled with consistently interesting presentations and discussions and we are already looking forward to another edition next year, but then hopefully in person.
