15th Scientific Exchange Day 2026

  • Linz, Austria
  • 9 April 2026

The 15th Scientific Exchange Day (SED) of K1-MET GmbH took place on Thursday, 9 April 2026, at voestalpine Stahlwelt in Linz. The event, however, had already begun the evening before: on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, a keynote lecture by Christian Stoecker (HAW Hamburg) entitled “Faster than you think – surprising facts about energy” was held, followed by a get-together providing an opportunity for informal exchange.

The annual Scientific Exchange Day serves as a platform for sharing knowledge, ideas and innovations within the K1-MET partner network. It brings together researchers, industry partners and stakeholders to discuss current developments and future perspectives in metallurgical research.

On 9 April, the programme opened with introductory words from the Management Board, including a brief overview of the new COMET funding application.

Over the years, the SED has become an established forum for presenting ongoing research activities and results. This year, the programme highlighted the three research areas of K1-MET, each illustrated by a selected success story. In addition, the COMET Modules FuLIBatteR and PlasmArc4Green were presented as part of the programme.
