This year’s “Zukunftsforum Oberoesterreich 2024” took place under the motto “Innovationen für die Transformation des Industriestandortes” (Innovations for the transformation of the industrial location) and was organized by Business Upper Austria – OOE Wirtschaftsagentur GmbH.

In “Session 4: Carbon Management and NEFI Technology Talk”, our CEO Thomas Buergler gave a presentation on the topic of “Climate-neutral production processes through sector coupling” on 10 April:

“Climate-neutral production processes are the key to achieving climate targets in the resource- and energy-intensive industrial sectors of steel and cement. Two approaches are being pursued: Replacing carbon with hydrogen as a reaction partner or energy source and utilising carbon when it occurs due to raw materials through the use of CO₂-containing minerals. The focus is on the industrial demonstration of process routes for the production and use of green hydrogen, the separation of CO₂ from process gases and the conversion with hydrogen into basic chemical building blocks as well as the recycling of renewable gases. Sector coupling is the networking of the energy sector and resource-intensive industry.”
