5th K1-MET Simulation Conference 2024

On 3 April 2024, the 5th K1-MET Simulation Conference took place at voestalpine Stahlwelt in Linz.

The day opened with a short welcome speech and introduction by Christine Gruber (Area Management Simulation & Data Analyses). The motto of the conference was “Hybrid Modelling”, i. e. the description of processes based on physical models and data-driven approaches. Keynote talks were given by Thomas Lichtenegger on “Towards fast long-term simulations of complex flows using hybrid models” and Valentina Colla on “Hybrid-AI for modelling purposes in the metallurgical field”, as well as other contributions on hybrid modelling of steel production processes, from blast furnaces and continuous casting to battery recycling.

The day was filled with consistently interesting presentations and discussions, and we are already looking forward to another edition next year.
